It was the summer of 2011 when Peggy asked me if I wanted to sign up for a pottery class. It didn’t take me long to say yes and before I knew it I was standing in the dusty city studio about to experience something that would change my future! I have to say the first time at the wheel was magical! Centering the clay took some practice but when I finally got it I knew I would never turn back.
Diving into a new hobby like this is always clumsy and your insecurities can get the best of you but nothing was going to hold me back. I had no idea how much practice and work it would take but the joy I would experience when a decent pot would emerge from the clay kept me going and I haven’t stopped since.
The white pitcher was my very first pitcher I made in my first year. This image has been my brand and I love it. The white pitcher sits on our counter and when I pick it up it’s weight reminds me where I started and the image represents the beginning of my new hobby and love of clay.
Working with clay is a constant reminder to me about my journey in life. It inspires me daily and I hope you will find something here that brings you joy.
