In my IT world I always say two heads are better than one. I am so limited by my own thinking and perspective! When I have one or two others to talk through projects or ideas it’s always better and more productive.
When I look at a ceramic piece with one glaze it rarely inspires me. I always want to add something like a rim dip or flux! Glaze combos are so interesting and fun to experiment with. Sometimes they bring out colors you would never expected. Sometimes they make a mess and cause all kinds of problems. That’s why it’s always important to take time to think things through, no matter if you are glazing or working with a team of people. You do have to select combos that are compatible, that play nicely together and with glaze you always want to test, test, test!
So today, broaden your horizon! Experiment with a glaze combo. Invite someone into the conversation and see what colors they will bring into your project or idea!
Here are a few of my favorite glaze combos.
Peacock Green with light flux
Textured Turquoise over Wasabi
Smokey Merlot & Blue Rutile over Obsidian
Light flux over Winterwood
Happy glazing!
